Lithgow Street, Glen Iris

Residential development, duplex.

  • At 22 Lithgow Street, the design explores the balance between form, material and context. Two mirrored residences create a measured symmetry, responding to the street while maintaining privacy and individual identity. The upper level is defined by elongated horizontal windows set within white render, allowing natural light to penetrate deep into the interiors, while a gently pitched roof introduces subtle movement to the building’s silhouette. On the ground floor, timber battened garage doors and soft beige brick provide a grounded, textural contrast to the clean white surfaces above.

The landscape is integrated with the architecture, with a green forecourt, stepping stone pathways and perimeter planting that mediate the transition between street and home. Internally, spaces are planned to maximise light, connection and functionality, while externally the composition presents a calm, ordered presence within the suburban streetscape. The project demonstrates a considered approach to contemporary residential design, where simplicity of form, material rigour and attention to detail combine to create a confident and enduring architecture.
